Camping Games: 5 Activities for the Campground

Keeping everyone entertained during your camping trip is easy when you have some amazing ideas for games to play at the campground. Check out these five family-friendly activities to keep your crew on the move during your next vacation. See our favorite camping games below.

Outdoor Checkers

An easy way to keep your kids occupied around the campground is to get an outdoor checkerboard. This game is perfect for bringing to the campground because it only requires a checkered cloth mat and checkers pieces, which are lightweight and easy to transport. You can find these at most Cracker Barrels and Amazon.

Cornhole

This classic campground game is often one you can find available at the campground. All you need are a set of cornhole boards and eight bean bags. Divide into teams of two and take turns scoring points by tossing the bags onto the board our into the hole. You get one point for a bag on the board and three for one in the hole. The first team to twenty-one wins!

Capture the Flag

This activity takes a little bit of planning, but you can easily scout out the space at your campground and set up a game of capture the flag for your teens. This game works especially well if you are camping with friends so that you can use their campsite as a base and your own as the second base.

Obstacle Course

Another activity that may take some planning works best if you plan a few obstacles ahead of time to bring along the supplies you’ll need. You might want to have hula hoops to jump through or cardboard boxes to crawl through. We recommend setting up your obstacle course at the playground to give you more options for obstacles.

Charades

Once you’ve spent the day running around the campground and playing all the other camping games on this list, a game of charades is the perfect way to end the day. You can pick a fun theme like camping and do all activities you might do around the campground or TV characters. You need a hat and some strips of paper to write down activities for someone to act out while the others guess.
