Camping Recipe: The Easiest Camp Soup

Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 medium head cabbage, chopped
  • 1 can carrots, drained
  • 1 can whole kernel corn
  • 1 can green beans
  • 1 can peas
  • 1 can sliced potatoes
  • 1 can mixed vegetables
  • 1 can asparagus
  • 1 can tomato juice
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Over your fire, heat up a cast-iron skillet or a Dutch oven.
  2. While the Dutch oven heats up, wash and dry your cabbage, and then chop it into bite-size pieces.
  3. Once the skillet is hot, add the ground beef and cook until browned, being sure to crumble it as you cook it.
  4. Once the meat is cooked through, drain the oil and set the meat aside.
  5. Add the remaining ingredients to the cast iron skillet without draining the liquid from the cans first.
  6. After you’ve added all of the cans to the soup and the cabbage, cook uncovered until the cabbage is tinder, and then toss in the ground beef.
  7. Stir to combine and serve hot with a side of crusty bread.
